History
LCCF Starts in 1994
The Lewis and Clark County Community Foundation was created by a small group of county residents who understood the value of a permanent legacy. LCCF began in December 1994 under the legal and administrative umbrella of the Montana Community Foundation (MCF) – a statewide community foundation to promote philanthropic empowerment at the local level.
The Montana Community Foundation’s history predates LCCF’s formation by several years. MCF was established in the late 1980’s, and its formative years generated energy in local communities all over Montana. Ultimately, that energy resulted in the creation of nearly 90 local community foundations that virtually cover the map of Montana. MCF’s volunteers and staff, supported by significant grants form the Ford Foundation and other national foundations, worked to create and nurture many of those local community foundations.
We began with a hope that our foundation would ultimately provided a stable source of funding for the scores of non-profit organizations that serve the people of the communities that exist within our county.
LCCF Grant Awards
From 1999 through 2010, LCCF has awarded more than $100,000 to more than 100 local non-profit organizations in Lewis and Clark County.
