Philosophy:
All proposals that are submitted to LCCF shall be weighed on their merits and judged accordingly.

Fields of Interest:
Grant applications are considered in these broad program areas:

  • Arts and Culture Economic Development Health Services Basic Community Needs
  • Land and Environmental Conservation Historic Preservation Education Youth

Grant Guidelines:

  1. Please follow all directions on the application form exactly. Please do not include any materials not specifically requested, such as a cover letter and brochures, etc.
  2. Grantmaking Balance – urban and rural. LCCF seeks to provide grants throughout the county.
  3. Lower Priority. In general, lower priority will be given to:
    a. Proposals from organizations that have received grants from LCCF for two or more consecutive years. If granted for a consecutive second year, a smaller grant may be given. LCCF is unable to provide on-going support.
    b. Capital campaigns and capital improvement projects. Exceptions may be made for capital improvements from small rural organizations.
    c. Administrative and overhead costs. LCCF seeks to maximize its grant support to projects rather than administrative costs.
    d. Geographic location. Proposals from outside the county that do not adequately indicate clear benefit to Lewis and Clark County residents.
    e. New organizations that lack demonstrable record of accomplishments.

Grants Previously Awarded:

Our grants typically range from $200 to $1000 in size. We do not have the resources to make large grants and try to make our limited funds support as many organizations and projects as possible. See a list of past awarded grants. (If you need help with the application, please contact Linda Carlson at 406-441-4952.)
