Here is a brief biographical sketch of Emily -  Emily was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Emily is a History major at Carroll College with a minor in Latin American Studies. She expects to graduate in May 2010. She chose to attend Carroll College because of its small size and because her older brother also attended and played football for the college. However, when she moved to Helena several years ago, Emily experienced culture shock, because she was unfamiliar with life in a community that is so much smaller than Seattle. Now that Emily has been in Helena for a few year, she has found that she genuinely enjoys small town living, including the outdoor activities that have been available to her here in Helena. Emily is an avid sports fan, especially college football and baseball. When Emily goes home to Seattle she still enjoys exploring the city, walking along the downtown waterfront, and spending time with her family and her dog, Libby.

Choteau Native Works On Concert
- Choteau Acanta, Monday, April 13, 2009

Jenna Kesler HELENA — Jenna Kesler, a senior at Carroll College and a Choteau High School graduate who was raised on a Bynum ranch, is working for the Lewis and Clark County Community Foundation (LCCF), organizing a major fundraiser in April.

LCCF gives out grants to local nonprofit groups or organizations in Lewis and Clark County. Besides the community of Helena, LCCF supports organizations and groups in Augusta, Marysville, Lincoln, York, Wolf Creek, Canyon Ferry and Canyon Creek, to name a few. “It has been a great experience seeing this foundation directly affect nonprofits,” Kelser said.

"Through my job I am organizing a large fundraiser for LCCF at Carroll College,” Kelser added. “Not only do I want to do this to raise money for LCCF, but also because I strongly believe in building our communities and having us get to know each other face to face."

Kelser has put together a large swing dance and social event for both the Carroll community and the residents and friends of Lewis and Clark County. This event will benefit LCCF and in turn will benefit many other organizations throughout the county. She has organized two bands to play, along with a silent auction and great door prizes.

"The Last Chance to Dance" will be held on April 25 at 7 p.m. at the CUBE on the Carroll Campus. The fundraiser is open to everyone.

In addition Kelser is looking for sponsors to help sponsor the event. “My goal before the event, is to get enough support to pay for the bands and some advertising fees as well as to add directly to the fundraising effort,” Kelser said. Businesses, organizations, clubs, teams, etc., that donate will receive free promotion/advertising with the advertising of this event, as well as have the option of having their own table set up at the event to sell, promote, etc. “I understand this is a hard time to give, but I feel building our communities and being optimistic is the only way to tackle bumps in the road,” she said.

Anyone interested in sponsorship of this event can contact Kelser at the Lewis and Clark County Community Foundation Web site at www.lccfoundation.org or on her cell phone at 590-2686, or by e-mail at jennakesler@gmail.com.
